Subject: Continental Tyres (would you like to comment? Click here.)

Hello, would you be able to advise me the difference between the Continental Mountain King UST & Protect models? Both in 26x2.2 size.
Regards
Rob
Q: Hello, would you be able to advise me the difference between the Continental Mountain King UST & Protect models? Both in 26x2.2 size.

Regards, Rob

A: Hi Rob, Thank you for your enquiry.

The Continental UST have a re enforced sidewall for better air retention when using tubeless. (Although the Stan's No Tubes kit will work using most tyres)
The Continental Tyres with Protect use a more advance rubber formula that is softer and less prone to puncture. They are softer but also longer wearing. This gives you much better grip without compromising tyre longevity.

Either way you are making a good choice - These tyres are amongst best on the market in my opinion.

Subject: Damaged Tubeless Valve Stem. (would you like to comment? Click here.)

Q: I have Joe's tubeless strips installed on my MTB. I've accidentally over tightened the valve nut and split the valve away from the strip! The strip isn't damaged and am wondering if I could get away with installing a valve only instead of replacing the whole strip. What's your advise please.

John

A: Hi Jon,
It's a little difficult to assess over this inter-web thingy so to be on the safe side I would recommend replacing both the valve stem and the strip. It's the best way to ensure a tight seal. You are welcome to try an replace the valve one - just as long as you understand there is always a risk of leakage when it comes to tubeless kits.

What axel sizes do they come in?

Subject: Hayes Stoker Ace Brakes. (would you like to comment? Click here.)

Q: Hi, i just purchased a set of Hayes Stroker Ace 8's. (purchase number #XXXX). I ordered a complete set (front and rear) but have received two rear kits only?

Thanks

Reilly hurst

A: Hi Reilly,

I appreciate your concern here - but don't worry, Hayes brakes are sold in singles only. They have designed the Stroker Ace brakes systems to be universal. You will notice that the brake levers have the same decals on top and bottom. Also the bleed screw and adjustment points are easily accessible top or bottom.
The means that you will need to trim the front brake hose in order to achieve a suitable fit. The Hayes brake kit has everything you need to do this including a spare hose nipple and a bleed kit.
You need to:
1) Remove the hose attachment from the front level (do all of this on the bike as it is easier to gauge the correct length. Make sure you rotate your bars full left then full right to check you have left enough slack in the brake hose).
2) Trim the hose to length. (you can use sharp side cutters if you do not have a cutting tool)
3) Insert the replacement nipple and thread.
4) Re attach the hose to the lever.
5) Bleed brakes as necessary.
You can review the Hayes brake bleeding procedure here.

Subject: Avid Juicy 3.5 Brakes. (would you like to comment? Click here.)

Q: Does the Avid Juicy 3.5 come with a brake line ?  So therefore is it a complete kit – lever, cable, bracket, calliper, rotor ?

Thanks & Regards,

Jason

A: Hi Jason,

Yes all Avid brakes are sold as complete sets (front and/or rear) and are ready to install. This inlcudes the brakes lines, Rotors, levers and callipers. Avid are sold as front and rear brakes with the hose length set accordingly. This makes for easy installation with little of no requirement to bleed the brakes.
